Warangal: With the directions from the Chief Minister to be more firm in enforcing lockdown, the police in the erstwhile Warangal district have stepped up the vigil on the lockdown violators and also standing firm with rules regarding the enforcement of the lockdown in the district.
Not only the lower rung officials including the policemen and Home Guards, but also the district level officials including the DCPs, SPs and CP have been monitoring the enforcement by conducting surprise inspections on the roads and at the police checkposts.
Warangal Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi on Saturday intercepted several vehicles and checked the documents. He also pulled up those who produced fake or invalid documents to travel during the lockdown. Joshi directed the officials to seize the vehicles if the motorists fail to provide proper reason for venturing out onto the roads. “The people must have the e-pass to ply on roads during the lockdown period,” he added.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, a police official said that they had booked nearly 21,000 cases with regard to violation of the lockdown rules under Warangal police commissionerate limits since the announcement of the lockdown. The police have seized more than 300 vehicles and collected Rs 83 lakh fines from the vehicle users.
Meanwhile, police in Mulugu district have seized 17 vehicles and booked 2,857 face mask violation cases and collected Rs 2,85,700 towards fine. Mulugu Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh G Patil has inspected the enforcement of the lockdown in Mulugu town on Saturday.
In Mahabubabad district, police seized 663 vehicles and registered 3,265 cases for not wearing mask. The police have also booked 775 cases for violating curfew and 114 cases for gathering in large numbers besides booking 471 cases for not maintaining social distance since the announcement of the lockdown.
