Hyderabad: Grit and determination, these days, are roaming in the corridors of Taj Krishna in the form of an assistant electrician named Sirisha.
Aged just 19, this youngster who does not have many of the perks of life that most of her peers enjoy, did opt for what many would consider an unconventional profession for women. And working hard to make ends meet has become a daily routine for her.
“Life is hectic right now, but I do not want my family to face the same financial crisis we did back in 2016,” she shares. Coming from childhood marred by poverty, Sirisha’s father, an auto-driver, had some income initially. However, the family ran into a rough financial patch six years ago.
“My father was the only bread-winner for our family of four. Due to a financial crisis in 2016, we started struggling even for our daily needs. To help my father, my brother started working. Since that wasn’t enough for the family, I completed a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and started looking for a job,” says Sirisha.
It was during this time that a friend of hers told her about TATA Strive, which helped Sirisha nurture her career aspirations. “Initially my relatives were not in favour of me doing the course. However, my father supported my dream and after researching, I decided to join the AE course. It wasn’t easy as I had to travel around 70 kilometres each day for training. However, all the efforts were worth it. I learned a lot and right now, I am working as an Assistant Electrician at Taj Krishna,” she adds proudly.
With her stable job, Sirisha’s family was able to buy a house in Nagole last year. And now, after all the struggles, Sirisha has bigger dreams for her future.
“I do not want to stop here. I have a stable income but I feel that if I do not study more, I will not be able to grow. So I have been pursuing BTech from Arjun College of Technology and Sciences for the last two years,” Sirisha says, adding that she was also working hard to become the head of the electrical department at the hotel some time in future.
