Warangal: With the Hanamkonda Collector giving his nod for introduction of the boating services in Waddepally and Bhadrakali reservoirs, tourism authorities are preparing the estimates.
Officials are likely launch the boating services at the Dharmasagar reservoir, one of the popular tourist spots in Hanamkonda district, besides resuming the boating service at the historical Pakhal Lake near Narsampet town in Warangal district.
“The forest department has stopped the boating services in Pakhal Lake citing some technical reasons. However, we spoke to them and convinced the need for resumption of the boating services in the lake for the advantage of the city dwellers as well as tourists,” District Tourism Officer M Shivajai told ‘Telangana Today’.
He also added that they were preparing estimates for setting up boating facilities in these summer storage tanks. “Though the proposal was there for several years now, we could not provide these facilities as some experts and organisations had objected to the boating service in these lakes citing pollution to be caused with the operation of the services. But the State government has recently introduced boating services in drinking water bodies like Lower Manair Dam (LMD) in Karimnagar, Komati cheruvu in Siddipet, Madannapet cheruvu near Narsampet, and Lakaram cheruvu in Khammam.
In view of this, the government has also accorded permission for the Tourism Department to operate the boating services in these drinking water sources,” Shivaji said.
He hoped that permission would be given soon for starting boating in Dharmasagar reservoir and Katkashapur tanks. “We are yet to freeze on the boats to be operated in these reservoirs,” Shivaji added.
Meanwhile, a member of the Kakatiya Town Level Federation Shivaranjani said that nearly 250 visitors are coming to the Waddepally Lake on weekdays, and the number would go upto 300 on weekend days.
The Kakatiya TLF was entrusted with the maintenance of the Waddepally Lake by the GWMC. While Rs 10 is the entry fee for each adult, Rs five is for each child and the vehicle parking is Rs 10.
Meanwhile, the visitors have to cough up Rs 400, if they want to take the pictures using the cameras. It may be remembered here that the GWMC has taken up developmental works worth Rs 14.41 crore at Waddepally tank bund with an objective to attract the tourists to this beautiful place abutting the 100 feet road.
