Drive against modified silencers, 55 bikers fined in Khammam
ACP (Traffic) Srinivasulu stated that the special drive was launched on the instructions of Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt, following complaints of bikers using modified silencers on Royal Enfield motorcycles. Many riders had been altering the factory-installed silencers, creating excessive noise, while others were fitting loud horns, contributing to noise pollution. He warned that legal action would be taken, including the seizure of vehicles causing such disturbances.

Khammam: As part of a special drive conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday by traffic police against the use of modified silencers on two-wheelers, penalties were imposed on 55 bike riders in Khammam city.
ACP (Traffic) Srinivasulu said that the special drive was conducted at the directions of Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt as bikers riding Royal Enfield vehicles were using modified silencers after changing silencers installed by the manufacturer. A large number of bikers were resorting to that practice recently and creating loud noise while some were fitting their vehicles with horns that produce loud sound and causing noise pollution. Henceforth legal action would be taken by seizing the vehicles causing noise pollution, he said
On Tuesday as many as 25 modified silencers were removed today and a fine of Rs.1, 000 was imposed on each motorist. On Wednesday, around 30 modified silencers were removed and a Rs 1000 fine was imposed on each biker.
Those using modified silencers have to replace them with silencers provided by the company. Action would be taken against motorists if found with incorrect license and number plates, number plate tampering, the ACP said.
