Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday urged union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy to get involved personally and ensure the 21 closed roads under Local Military Authority (LMA) in Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) are immediately thrown open for public.
Inaugurating Shaikpet flyover here on Saturday, in the presence of union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Rama Rao said, “The 21 roads under Local Military Authority (LMA) that were closed against the rules of the Ministry of Defence should be opened immediately. I request union Minister Kishan Reddy to place this issue before Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and get the issue resolved.”
The MA&UD Minister also highlighted the pending land allotment issue related to construction of a flyover at Rasoolpura. “If the union government allocates the land belonging to the Central Home Department at Rasoolpura junction, the State government will build a flyover there,” he said.
Rama Rao pointed out to Kishan Reddy that a series of development works were taken up in Greater Hyderabad limits but the progress in infrastructure and civic works under Secunderabad Cantonment Board took a backseat.

Rama Rao also reminded about the delay in allocation of defence lands for taking up skyways from Patny to Kompally and from Jubilee Bus Station to Turkapally. He pointed out that multiple requests made by the State government for allotment of defence lands for long pending projects in the past six years were ignored.
The State government was ready to extend full support so that Hyderabad gets UNESCO World Heritage City recognition and irrespective of elections and political affiliations, parties should work towards attaining it, he said.
