Peddapalli: One more held in Gunjapadugu SBI theft case

Peddapalli: Ramagundam police arrested one more person in connection with the sensational Gunjapadugu SBI branch robbery case. Special investigation team arrested one Jahangir alias Master at his native Kakrala village, Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh on May 29. In all, 99.260 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 3,500 cash were recovered from him. He was brought to Manthani court on transit warrant after he was produced in au Uttar Pradesh court.

A tailor by profession, Jahangir along with other accused was involved in several theft cases. A murder case was also filed against him. He underwent seven years imprisonment in Madhya Pradesh jail in connection with a theft case.


It may be recalled here that a total of nine burglars from Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra broke into Gunjapadugu SBI branch on March 24 night and fled with 6 kg gold ornaments and Rs 18 lakh cash. Based on the complaint lodged by bank manager Prahalladh Pingva, police registered the case and formed special investigation teams to probe the case.

Special police team detained A-6 Adesh Sharma in Uttar Pradesh on May 1 and received 200 grams of gold ornaments from him. On the other hand, five other accused including A-I Raju, A-2 Devadas, A-3 Sanketh, A-4 Nawab, A-5 Danvir alias Gasto, who were in Chandrapur jail, Maharastra, in connection with other cases, were produced before Manthani court judge through virtual mode on May 10. A-8 Nasar alias Bhuria and A-9 Nawab alias Guddu were absconding.
