Accompanied by local MLAs and officials, the Minister interacted with residents and checked whether they were being extended basic facilities.

The Minister along with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar reviewed the rescue and relief measures being taken up in the city in view of the rains.

Responding to Opposition legislators' allegations during the discussion on the GHMC (Amendment) Bill in the State Legislative Council, the Minister said the 50 per cent reservation for women will not have any impact on the BC reservation.

If required, services of staff working at different Basti Dawakhanas in the vicinity should be utilised to extend medical services and treatment, he said.

MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao pointed out that the TRS had set an example for others by getting women to win from 79 municipal divisions though only 75 seats reserved to them of the total 150 divisions in the GHMC.

He said 43 per cent of the State's population was residing in urban areas and it was likely to touch 50 per cent in the next five years, which was indicative of rapid urbanisation.
