Hyderabad Traffic Police have initiated special drives to ensure the safety and compliance of school buses and other vehicles transporting students.

It has been decided to ensure that no school bus in Hyderabad should be allowed to venture on city roads without getting the FC renewed or following safety precautions. RTA will seize vehicles and levy hefty penalties and the goodwill of the schools will be impacted, officials said.

Presently, only Temporary Registrations (TR) are being done for vehicles in the showrooms. Although these TRs are received from the Transport Department, the vehicle purchasers do not have to go to the RTA office for that.

On being alerted, the fire department officials reached the spot immediately and doused the fire. Bandlaguda police visited the spot and took up investigation.

Officials expect to earn about Rs 75 crore through registrations by the end of this year as against Rs 72 crore earned by the RTA last year
