The filmmaker was named the recipient of the honour earlier last month and received the trophy in person on Wednesday evening at a gala held at TAO Downtown Restaurant in New York.

The two have collaborated on four films, including Rajamouli’s debut movie and his last box-office smash, ‘Students No. 1’ and ‘RRR’, respectively.

Released in March 2022, RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
