Nizamabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha on Thursday said she would take legal recourse on the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case. She termed the ED notice as ‘Modi notice’ served with political malice.
The ED had issued the summons on Thursday asking Kavitha to appear before it in Delhi for questioning on Friday.
Speaking to mediapersons in Nizamabad, Kavitha acknowledged having received the ED notice which was shared with the legal team of the BRS for examination.
“The notice was issued with political motives, ahead of the elections. There is nothing much to say about it. We will proceed as per the advice of the party’s legal team,” she said.
The BRS MLC said the investigation was being dragged like a television serial for the last one year and that curtains were raised for a new episode ahead of the elections. Taking potshots at the BJP, she said even the 2G scam case was not investigated for such a long period. She asserted that even the people of Telangana were not taking the notice seriously as they are aware of the facts.
Kavitha said it was a common strategy adopted by the BJP in every State which was scheduled to face elections. “People of Telangana are extending their strong support to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and are keen to give him a third consecutive term. Both the BJP and the Congress are jittery after witnessing the Chief Minister’s popularity among the people. We can understand their intentions behind targeting the winning team by misusing Constitutional bodies and government departments,” she added.
Stating that the BRS was not the B-team of any political party but the A-team of people of this country and Telangana, she said the people would teach the BJP a lesson for interfering with local issues without any major contribution from the Centre.
Kavitha was earlier questioned by the ED on March 11, 20 and 21. She was first summoned on March 9. The ED had forced her to remain in its office in the name of recording her statement for nine hours on March 11. She was quizzed again for over 10 hours on March 20. The agency asked her to appear again on March 21, when she was again questioned for 10 hours.
