Hyderabad: Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Tuesday said the Musi rejuvenation project cost had not been determined and claimed that the Rs. 1.50 lakh crore announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was for various projects coming up in and around Hyderabad and that it was not for the Musi project alone.

Replying to a query during the Question Hour, Sridhar Babu stated that the Chief Minister never said that Rs. 1.50 lakh crore would be spent on the Musi rejuvenation project.

“The Rs. 1.50 lakh crore includes Regional Ring Road (RRR) expressway project, elevated corridor project, STPs, link roads and other major projects coming up in and around Hyderabad. Opposition parties were unnecessarily creating confusion and trying to politicise the issue,”he said.

He said the estimated cost to be incurred for the project would be ascertained upon the finalization of the Detailed Project Report(DPR) by the Aggregate Consortium Master Plan consultant, who was on-board recently. The DPR had not been prepared and the opposition parties were unnecessarily making hue and cry about the project cost, he alleged.

The minister informed that 309 families living in Musi riverbed area and prone to flooding have shifted voluntarily and that 181 houses were demolished voluntarily by the shifted families themselves.

BRS member K Kavitha wanted to know if the DPR of Musi project was not ready, then why the State government approached World Bank for Rs. 4100 crore loan and why the Chief Minister met union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy in Delhi seeking Rs. 14,000 crore loan for the project. She also wanted the government to show the consent letter given by people for demolition of their houses.

“Who will pay the EMI of houses demolished . Whether the individual has to pay it or the government will pay the amount. The government should clarify. If the government gives us wrong information about Musi demolition we will move a privilege motion against the government,”she warned.

Sridhar Babu clarified that the State government approached World Bank for sewerage works of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and not for Musi project. The BRS members could approach the Hyderabad collector to get the consent letters given by the people whose houses were demolished in the Musi riverbed, he said.
