RFCL in Peddapalli has been shut down following ammonia pipeline leakages, halting production and raising concerns over urea supply during the Yasangi season. Officials said it may take a week to resume operations after fixing technical issues.

RFCL has slashed urea allocations to Telangana, supplying only 10,000 tonnes so far this year, compared to over 1.14 lakh tonnes last year. CM Revanth Reddy raised the issue with the Centre. Farmers have staged protests amid the ongoing Vanakalam season.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) authorities are making alternative arrangements to draw water from the project.

About 125 security personnel are likely to provide security to the plant, which was established spending Rs.6,330 crore.

Besides for domestic purposes, piped gas will also be supplied for commercial operations too
