About 15 to 20 Congress party workers headed by District Congress Committee president Kethavath Shankar Naik tried to stage the protest near the thermal power plant a few minutes before the arrival of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The foot march started in the morning from Indore's Bada Ganpati square.

While the famous cricketer campaigned for his wife Rivaba Jadeja, his sister Naynaba Jadeja sought votes for the Congress, reminding voters of price rise under the ruling party and its "unfulfilled" employment promises.

People from different sections of society including a differently-abled man, Manohar, also joined the foot march and Gandhi was seen pushing his wheelchair to some distance.

The party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with her husband Robert Vadra, also participated in the yatra with party MP Rahul Gandhi and others.

On the second day of the yatra's Madhya Pradesh leg, Rahul Gandhi started the foot march from Borgaon in Khandwa district.

It also appointed four working presidents of the state unit -- Mastan Vali, Janga Goutham, Padmasree Sunkara and P Rakesh Reddy.

The yatra today resumed after a two-day break from Boderli village in the Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

Bharat Jodo Yatra is currently in its Maharashtra leg. Before entering Maharashtra, the Yatra has already covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
