For the past 10 days, the price of gold has been making its way up and on Wednesday, the value of gold notched a six-month high in the Hyderabad market

Officials of the Hyderabad customs department caught a passenger who was smuggling gold at the RGI Airport and seized gold bars weighing 583.11 grams from him.

The 24-carat gold was retailing at Rs 55,580 per 10 grams on Tuesday while 22-carat (10 grams) was Rs 50,950, a sharp increase of Rs 540 and Rs 500, respectively, from the previous day.

Acting on a tip off, Malappurram SP Suchith Das and his team took the girl into custody after she had successfully cleared the Customs at the airport.

The estimated worth of the seized gold was around Rs 46.5 lakh.

In the presence of the villagers, the statement of the farm owner was taken by Tahsildar and the gold coins along with the clay pot were seized.

However, to take something without anyone noticing is a tricky task for sure. In a clip that is now doing rounds across social media platforms, a woman can be seen doing exactly that.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for December delivery traded higher by Rs 199 or 0.38 per cent at Rs 52,650 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 4,012 lots.

Hyderabad: The customs authorities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Shamshabad caught three passengers in different instances who were smuggling gold on Sunday.
