From December 14 to 31 as many as 15, 72, 480 women passengers travelled in Palle Velugu and Express services and among them 32, 589 were children.

On an average, 30 lakh of the 51 lakh passengers using buses every day, were found to be women translating to 62 per cent

Stating that many were bringing photo copies of their identity cards, Sajjanar made it clear that every female passenger traveling in buses must show their original identity card.

The Revanth Reddy government on Saturday implemented free Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus travel for women under Telangana 'Maha Lakshmi scheme' on the occasion of the 77th birthday of senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

The day saw rumours of beneficiaries being identified under the Maha lakshmi scheme and women making a beeline to LPG outlets. 

The GO, issued by Principal Secretary A Vani Prasad, says the scheme is for the benefit of girls and women of all age groups and trasngender persons who are domiciled in Telangana.
