The State Board of Technical Education and Training in Telangana is planning to introduce an AI-based evaluation system for diploma students in engineering and pharmacy programmes. The system, which scans answer scripts and matches them against prepared answer keys, has faced challenges in recognising handwriting, solving mathematical problems, and interpreting engineering drawings.

The revised exams date will be announced soon, the Board said in a statement.

A proposal to cease exams for the manual typewriting course has been sent by the Technical Education department to the State government. The proposal, if ratified, will effectively signal the end of the formal examinations on the typewriters.

Curriculum to undergo major changes this academic year

As per the new curriculum, the course structure will contain six theory and four laboratory courses in each semester for five semesters except for the sixth semester during which the students must undertake industry internships.
