Hyderabad: Doctors from almost all Government medical colleges and general hospitals in Hyderabad and districts of Telangana have continued to participate in black badge protests against the Government Order (GO Ms 229) of the State government, which provides provision for the inclusion of four ex-officio members, in addition to the existing four ex-officio members, into the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC).
Apart from black badge protests, doctors also organised outreach programmes to spread awareness about Government Order 229 and its implications. The doctors have urged the State government to immediately withdraw the Government Order.
The medical JAC, formed by multiple doctors’ associations, has maintained that protests will be intensified further in the coming days if the State government does not withdraw the Government Order.
The protests against GO 229, taken up by medical JAC, have received unconditional support from organisations of doctors from multiple specialities including All Indian Dental Association, Telangana Physicians Association, Telangana Orthopedic Surgeons Associations, Paediatric Academy of Telangana etc.
