Using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), the State police, between January 1 and July 25, recovered 21,193 mobile devices that were either stolen or were lost and restored them to the owners.
The CEIR portal is operated in all the 780 police stations in the Telangana and the CID Telangana monitors and supervises the work of tracing the mobile phones.

Addressing the gathering while distributing 63 phones to persons who lost them during the last few days in Siddipet on Monday, the Commissioner has said that they could trace these phones because they had registered on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).

Additional DGP Crime Investigation Department, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat said that between April 20 and June 13, a total of 31,292 mobile phones were blocked and 5442 were traced using the CEIR
In Telangana, the police personnel in 750 police stations are being trained to use the CEIR in coordination with the DoT and the Telangana Crime Investigation Department
