Among those apprehended for drunk driving were 425 two-wheeler riders, 24 three-wheeler drivers, 60 four-wheeler drivers, and four heavy vehicle operators. Traffic police officials stated that all individuals caught will be presented in court for further action.
Another 32 persons were asked to do social service while driving license of 19 persons were suspended. The court also levied a fine of Rs. 76.43 lakh on the violators
The police booked 2,435 cases against two-wheeler riders for driving in inebriated condition while 493 cases were booked against four-wheeler drivers and the remaining 73 against three-wheelers
The victims, identified as M Tushara (19) and Bhuvesh Rao (19), residents of Alwal and Bolarum, along with their friends and BBA classmates – Rueben (19), Philip John (20) and Indrakanti Haripriya (19), left for a joyride on Friday late night, when the mishap occurred.
