The Telangana government has amended service rules to enforce strict disciplinary action against prolonged absenteeism among employees. As per the new provisions, staff absent without authorisation for one year or away from duty for five years, even with leave, will be deemed suspended.

Two home guards at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam in Basar, Nirmal district, saved a devotee’s life by performing CPR after he collapsed with chest pain while waiting for darshan. Indrakaran Reddy and Ganesh Narayana, on duty at the shrine, responded immediately and revived the devotee before handing him over to medical staff.
