According to local people, Thota Mallaiah (75) died of ill-health on Tuesday. While preparations were being made for his final rites on Wednesday, Mallaiah’s wife Rajalachamma collapsed all of a sudden and died.

He was said to have committed suicide by walking in front of a moving train between Khammam and Mallemadugu railway stations during late night hours on Tuesday.

The dog, which came from Jammikunta, attacked the people on the way, was later killed by municipal workers. 

The injured persons approached doctors in Huzurabad government area hospital where they were given anti-rabies injections.
