The 32-year-old woman, who is a homemaker, was contacted by the scammers through a WhatsApp message and was told about an investment opportunity, convincing her that she could earn significant profits.
According to the police, the victim Maddasani Yashwanth, (25) was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a hostel room in Gachibowli, on September 2.
At the pan shop, Prashanth had an argument with a person who then took out a knife and stabbed him indiscriminately. The victim collapsed at the spot and was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The culprit was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and was imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 in the rape case of a minor girl reported at Meerpet in 2016.
