Led by manager Vijay Kumar, four staffers of the civic body allegedly locked the house of a taxpayer for delaying the payment of the property tax for 5 years
As per available information, civic authorities seized Banjara hotel in the upscale Banjara Hills due to alleged non-payment of property tax amounting to Rs 1.40 crore.
Secretary Sandhyarani was suspended for using an elderly person's pension to pay property tax during a survey conducted in December to identify beneficiaries for the Indiramma housing scheme. The incident surfaced a few days ago, prompting officials to investigate the allegations in the presence of local villagers.
According to reports, local Panchayat secretary informs 15 beneficiaries that that their pension amount for December was used to clear their property tax dues
They were last hiked in March 2022 and officials have now proposed to increase them again. This time, the prices are expected to surge 20-25% on different brands, while the cost of beers is likely to be hiked by Rs 10-Rs 15.
The highest number of cases i.e. 13 were filed in Chandanagar, followed by eight in Yousufguda, five in Jubilee Hills, four each in Serilingampally, Quthbullapur and Moosapet, along with one other in Kukatpally.
