While discussing the Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Bill, 2024, in the Legislative Council on Saturday, Kavitha expressed concerns that the bill would create confusion across the State, causing difficulties for people in resolving land-related issues. Defending the BRS government's initiative to introduce the Dharani portal for land registration, she emphasized that Dharani serves as a protective shield for farmers, effectively curbing land scams in the State.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced a new land rights bill to address Dharani shortcomings, inviting public suggestions for three weeks to ensure a people-friendly implementation.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is learnt to have asked officials to make arrangements in this regard and an official announcement is expected soon.

This is because lower level officials are allegedly not showing interest in clearing the applications.

Appraising the Principal Secretary (Revenue) and CCLA, Naveen Mittal, of the steps being taken in the district to resolve the land related problems, during a video conference, he said special teams were constituted to address them in all the revenue mandals.

The collector directed tehsildars to resolve all Dharani applications within four days without leaving even a single application pending in their login.

Collector Santosh stated that two-three teams were formed in a mandal to resolve the complaints relating to Dharani portal

Revanth Reddy also said all possibilities would be explored to amend provisions in the existing act or enact a new act, if required with regard to the land registration system. 

While no specific timeline was set for the Committee to release its final report, the members assured to submit interim reports to the State government at regular intervals.
