The nine-day festival, which went global last year with a special showcase on the world’s largest screen on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, will be celebrated in eight countries this year.

Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi and Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy invited MLC K Kavitha for Bathukamma celebrations at People’s Plaza, PV Narasimha Rao Marg, on September 30.

The Chief Minister said Bathukamma festivities reflect Telangana’s culture and women celebrate the festival by decorating Bathukamma with colourful flowers and dance and sing in villages and towns across the State.

Students make 10-foot ice sculpture of Bathukamma by using high-end electrical European carving tools and some saws and chisels from the Oriental School of Sculpture.

The main celebrations will be held on October 3 which will be celebrated as Saddula Bathukamma.

Mayor Gundu Sudharani along with municipal commissioner P Pravinya has held a review meeting with the officials on various development works under the GWMC limits.

Arrangements are being made for distributing Bathukamma saris to eligible beneficiaries in erstwhile Adilabad district soon.

A total of 24 locations across the city have been selected for installation of these unique ponds that can be assembled and set up when needed and filled with water
