Speaking to the media, Raja Singh said he was not in the race for the BJPLP leader post and that it would be better if someone was selected as floor leader soon

Raja Singh filed the complaint with the Mangalhat police, stating the anonymous caller threatened to kill him if he took out a Shobha Yatra during Sri Ram Navami.

The rally was held on Saturday between Rajendra Chowk and Kanna Chowk and was also attended by leaders of the Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella body of several outfits, whose office bearers have also been named in the FIR, the Jail Road police station official said.

Nand Kishore Vyas at the end of fourth round secured 17,433 votes, while the BJP’s sitting MLA secured 14,732 votes. 

The BRS (then TRS), a runner-up in 2018 elections in this segment, has nominated Nanda Kishore Vyas, to take on Raja Singh.

According to party sources, the party has identified about 40 seats where it is strong and its vote share is expected to be over 30 percent.

The case was registered under Section 125 (Promoting enmity between classes in connection with election) of the Representation of the Public Act 1951 against him.

Assembly elections are due to be held towards year-end. Raja Singh was suspended from the BJP last year after he made certain comments hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims. He was also arrested and sent to jail in this case. The party has still not revoked his suspension.

Singh claimed that the BJP leadership had sent him a feeler that he would be the party candidate for the Goshamahal assembly constituency

This move is expected to have a cascading effect on the political situation in the entire region, helping the BRS including in the erstwhile Nizamabad, Adilabad, Medak and even Karimnagar districts.
