Water from Yellampalli reservoir was taken to Nandimedaram pump house through the gravity canal. Later, water was lifted to Gayatri pump house from where it was lifted and dumped into the flood flow canal facilitating the farmers to supply water to standing crops by drawing from the canal.

When the BRS was in power, Smitha Sabharwal used to monitor the supply on a daily basis. But the Congress government was not ensuring such supervision.

Reacting to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s comments that gates have been lifted, the MLA said the water was but nowhere to be seen and the crops had withered.

He claimed that the need to seek water from other States would not have arisen had the previous government acted responsibly on the water front.

Demanding a compensation of Rs.25,000 per acre to the farmers, KCR, who visited and interacted with farmers in Jangaon, Suryapet and Nalgonda districts, said 200 farmers had lost their lives in just about 100 days of the Congress in power.
