Six fire tenders quickly responded to a blaze at the manufacturing unit of the company responsible for Dukes biscuits, wafers, and confectionery.

The blaze was noticed around 9.30 a.m. on the sixth floor of the 6-storey Avior Corporate Park on LBS Road, trapping scores of employees working there.

The Fire department personnel with the help of five fire engines managed to douse the fire. Panic prevailed in the surrounding areas due to the thick smoke emanating from the spot.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to reports, computers and files in the office were gutted in the fire. On receiving the information, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

On being alerted, the fire department officials reached the spot immediately and doused the fire. Bandlaguda police visited the spot and took up investigation.

The occupant of the flat, a software professional, said that gold ornaments, silver articles, cash and other articles kept in the house were gutted down in the incident.

A short circuit in the engine is suspected to have caused the fire, which eventually gutted the car, police said.

The fire officials said a call was received from the local police about the fire incident and fire tenders sent to the spot.

It was one of the main markets in the Middle Andaman district, and more than 70 years old.

“We suspect a fire cracker landed on the cylinders that triggered the fire. Three to four cylinders exploded in the incident,” says Madhapur SFO, Fazal.

According to fire officials, the fire started in early hours in a corner of the premises and rapidly spread.

On information, three fire tenders from nearby fire stations were rushed to the spot.

The fire broke out in a turban broiler reportedly due to a short circuit.

The incident took place when the train was heading to Ahmednagar in western Maharashtra from Ashti station in Beed district.
