A statement from Manugur police on Monday informed that based on a tip off about ganja smuggling vehicle inspections were conducted by SI Meda Prasad and staff at Hanuman temple area in Manugur.

The seized ganja was worth Rs 1.23 crore and it was concealed inside a specially made rack parallel to the vehicle cabin’s rearside.

During vehicle inspections at Bhadrachalam, police seized 427 kg of cannabis being transported in two vehicles by hiding the substance in plywood sheets.

Gaush stated that an action plan was chalked and was being implemented to curb smuggling of the substance, which was sold by some persons to make a fast buck by luring certain farmers.

The arrested person B Lokesh (21), a resident of Motinagar had gone to Andhra Pradesh and procured ganja from one Suresh, of Sompeta in A.P and came to the city.

The police caught them at RC Puram and Allwyn cross roads Kukatpally. They were allegedly selling ganja packets to consumers for a price.

The contraband was seized along with Rs. 16 lakh cash from her," an officer said.

The men Srinivas and Upvas Kumar, had reportedly brought the contraband from AP and were looking for customers to sell when the SOT team caught them.
