Government Railway Sub-Inspector Sudhakar said that Ramchandra Swain from Ganjam district in Odisha was apprehended for smuggling the contraband substance from Vijayawada to Gujarat.

The man, a native of Odisha, works as a security guard at a private company in Dundigal and had purchased the contraband from Odisha.

According to police officials, the guard was procuring ganja from some people and selling it to the factory workers

Two junior doctors, K Manikandan and V Aravind, and another 10 medical students were purchasing the ganja from the suspect Suresh and regularly consuming, said DSP TGANB, K Narsing Rao.

The police nabbed the trio and seized the auto and two-wheeler along with the ganja from their possession.

The arrested individual, identified as Boinipally Suresh (35), hails from Paidurupadu, Vijayawada Rural in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh.

They were Malliala Manideep of Nagepalli, Burra Vamshi Krishna, Pappu Anil and Sircilla Shivasai of Mugdumpur of Karimangar rural mandal. They were arrested while selling ganja near Manideep’s residence.

A statement from Manugur police on Monday informed that based on a tip off about ganja smuggling vehicle inspections were conducted by SI Meda Prasad and staff at Hanuman temple area in Manugur.

The seized ganja was worth Rs 1.23 crore and it was concealed inside a specially made rack parallel to the vehicle cabin’s rearside.

During vehicle inspections at Bhadrachalam, police seized 427 kg of cannabis being transported in two vehicles by hiding the substance in plywood sheets.

The arrested person B Lokesh (21), a resident of Motinagar had gone to Andhra Pradesh and procured ganja from one Suresh, of Sompeta in A.P and came to the city.

Acting on information, the SOT team raided a shop at Balanagar and caught Manoj Kumar Agarwal (54), a resident of Jagathgirigutta.

The man K Ramesh, (22), a resident of Moosapet and a native of Siddipet district, was procuring ganja from one Raju of Cheriyal and selling to the customers in the city.

The arrested person Jitendra Nahak (27), who works with a food aggregator, is resident of Kothaguda in the city and native of Odhisa.
