MAUD Minister KTR appeals to public representatives, NGOs to join in taking up relief measures

In a statement, the Chief Minister observed that people residing in inundated areas have suffered severe losses after rain water entered into their homes and damaged their essential commodities.

The Minister appealed to all residents in low lying areas and those staying in the first and second floors to shift to relief camps immediately and not to put their lives at risk.

All the stagnant water on the roads is being cleared and a special drive has been taken up to clear the construction and demolition debris and other trash that got washed into the nalas and onto the streets.

As per the directions of CM KCR, officials are distributing Chief Minister Relief Kits which consist of provisions and essential commodities sufficient for a month and three blankets

“Since the entire manpower is occupied in  relief operations, conducting the Dharani portal enumeration is not possible. Hence, we were directed to suspend the survey till further orders are issued,” said a senior official from GHMC.

Under the Rs 566 crore financial aid, the municipal corporation sought Rs 83 crore to restore the storm water drains, Rs 54 crore for lakes restoration works, Rs 59 crore to restore 1,200 kms BT Roads (internal roads) and Rs 370 crore for laying CC roads.

Accompanied by local MLAs and officials, the Minister interacted with residents and checked whether they were being extended basic facilities.

The Minister along with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar reviewed the rescue and relief measures being taken up in the city in view of the rains.

With rainwater entering houses in many areas, GHMC is relocating residents to nearby function halls, community halls and other places
