An official says as per guidelines of Animal Welfare Board of India and Supreme Court orders, stray dogs neither can be shifted to deserted area nor abandoned on city outskirts
A meeting chaired by MA&UD Special Chief Secretary, Arvind Kumar on Wednesday, came up with instructions for control of stray dog menace and dog bites.
Municipal authorities were directed to intensify Animal Birth Control operations and Anti Rabies Vaccinations to address the issues related to dog bites with help of public participation
Meanwhile, to address the issue related to stray dogs attacking people, especially children, the GHMC is planning to start an exclusive dog adoption programme in all its 30 circles
Both GHMC and HMDA did not have funds to restore lakes, hence, it would be better that it should be handed over to the Minor Irrigation Department, he said
TS TRANSCO said due to the breakdown, the contingency sources were being utilised and with State Assembly session in progress, there is no further alternate supply provision which covers the heart of the city area.
