The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre predicts that the state is likely to experience light to moderate rains at many places for the next three days.

The Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority (APDMA) has predicted light to moderate rains in Chittoor, YSR, Sathyasai, Anantapur, Kurnool, Nandyala, and Annamaya districts.

The red chilies and dried corn drowned in rainwater in Achampet, Amaravati, Pedakurapadu, and Krosuru mandals of Palnadu district on Sunday.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph likely at isolated places over NCAP & Yanam, SCAP and Rayalaseema," IMD stated in their bulletin.

The highest rainfall recorded up to 9 pm was in Kapra at 75 mm, followed by Malkajgiri at 69.8 mm, Alwal at 59.8 mm, Quthbullapur at 55.3 mm, and Uppal at 45.5 mm.

Light to heavy rains have been lashing several parts of the State for the last few days

The sudden downpour disrupted normal life and many thoroughfares and  low lying areas were inundated with rain wates.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) - Hyderabad, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maldives-Comorin area.

IMD Hyderabad has also issued a warning for thunderstorms at isolated places in the State over the next five days

The temperature, which was pegged at 38.4 degree Celsius, was one degree less than the normal temperature by Tuesday evening.

As a safety measure, the special commissioner advised farmers, farm labourers, shepherds and others not to stay in open places or under the trees.

According to the Met department, the rainy climate is a result of the cyclonic circulation over the Comorin area and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above the mean sea level.
