Hyderabad: India’s second largest food company Britannia Industries finds Telangana as a key market and is contemplating to establish a green-field manufacturing facility in the State in the coming years.

Britannia Industries VP-Sales, Gunjan Shah, told Telangana Today, “Telangana is a large market. The State contributes revenues of Rs 200 crore every year. The market is growing well. Both Hyderabad and surrounding districts are contributing to our sales significantly.”

He added, “We have a significant manufacturing base in the State. We have large contract packers which are as good as our factories. We procure products from them. There are multiple contract packers in Telangana from whom we procure. A lot of sales in the region happens through this arrangement. We have many partners in the State and to set up our own unit, we will have to significantly increase the demand beyond what is supplied to us to meet our existing demand.”

In the next few years once the growth is panning out and the company is rolling out new product categories, it would call for new investments and company-owned manufacturing units could up in the State, he informed.
